Entries are starting to roll in for this years edition of Bush Bash. As you may know, this years race has been extended to 6 hours for the senior race which is held on the Saturday. This will give riders a chance to recover a little before they head back to work on Monday.
There have been a couple of people who aren't for the idea, but we are hoping to draw more of the trailride fraternity out of the woodwork. At $60/ rider it is the cheapest offroad endurance event in New Zealand. It's the same entry fee as last years 4 hour and each team member gets in an extra hours riding.
For the seniors, this year they will see all new terrain. The expansive Waitawhiti station at over 6,000 acres, riders will be racing on a completely different area of the station along with two neighbouring properties. The start will be a little more exciting with the edition of the "Waitawhiti Perendales Holeshot Award". This will see riders banging bars to capture that $100 cash and then maybe go on to win the covetted BushBash plaque and get their name alongside previous winners.
There are two plaques up for grabs, an Ironman plaque who's names already grace it like inaugaral winner Rory Mead followed by Adam Reeves, Paul Whibley and Veteran Hugh Lintott. The Team plaque was first won by Jono and Sheldon Hill followed by John and Lance Odea won it back to back. Then last year teamed with Adrian Smith, John won the teams event again.
Prize giving will follow immediately after racing.
